The investment also covers the development of a new MPV that has been internally codenamed as U321. It is likely to come mated to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The new MPV will be the third model, after KUV100 and XUV500, to be built on a monocoque architecture.
Mahindra has been working on a new lineup of petrol engines for a while in conjunction with Ssangyong. These new engines could debut on products such as the XUV500 in 2017. This new lineup of petrol engines will also find their way into future Mahindra products including the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV.
