Mahindra & Mahindra India have been introducing customized options from with the assurance of company fitted parts. With the popularity of the Mahindra Thar which gets customized by a number of aftermarket modification centres, Mahindra has also offered a new customized option directly through the company, the Mahindra Thar Wanderlust. Unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Mahindra Thar Wanderlust was also accompanied with the KUV Xtreme, a bolder looking small car based on the KUV 100 Nxt. Mahindra Thar Wanderlust and KUV Xtreme Details
However, with regards to the technical specifications on both the modified cars, there is no change in the technical specifications. The Mahindra Thar Wanderlust is powered by the existing 2.5-litre diesel engine generating 105bhp at 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm of torque between 1,800 rpm and 2,000 rpm. The diesel engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and the BORGWARNER manual shifting 4X4 transfer case. Similarly, the KUV Xtreme is offered with the mFalcon80 petrol engine that generates 82bhp of power at 5,500 rpm and 115 Nm of torque from 3,500 rpm to 3,600 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, here are the additional features you get in both the modified cars.
Mahindra Thar Wanderlust
The Mahindra Thar Wanderlust is an extreme off-roader with a host of features to get you out of any sticky situation. It is offered with a five-point seatbelt from sparco along with bucket seats, air conditioning, redesigned roof, a snorkel, off-road tyres and a winch. Other features include a dual tone dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system. According to Mahindra, the number of people who can be seated in the Mahindra Thar Wanderlust are up to six with the rear seats being side facing or jump seats. Other features include LED DRLS with Projector Headlamps and LED tail lamps. Cost of the Mahindra Thar Wanderlust hasn’t been officially announced, however, we expect it to be north of Rs 2 lakh over the ex-showroom price of the standard Mahindra Thar.
Mahindra KUV Xtreme
The KUV Xtreme is basically a modified version that can take on rough roads or bad patches with ease. On the contrary though, the body cladding hints at a ‘hot hatchback’ stance. The KUV Xtreme gets side steps, wider tyres and cladding on certain exterior elements such as the tail lamps. Although the dashboard layout remains the same, the KUV Xtreme gets a touchscreen infotainment system as well as an ambient light strip which runs through one end of the dashboard to the other. In terms of extra cost of modifications, the KUV Xtreme should set you back by another Rs 1.5 lakh over the ex-showroom price of the standard Mahindra KUV 100 NXT.
