Mahindra Thar Driven in Riverbed
The video has been uploaded by a popular YouTuber. He takes a brand new Mahindra Thar for a test drive. The owner of the SUV is sitting in the passenger seat. They are already in an isolated location where a trail is seen leading to the riverbed. The YouTuber drives a 4×4 for the first time as takes the Thar to the river. As he is driving, he realises the potential of the SUV. At first, he is a bit careful with where he takes the SUV. There are various parts of the riverbed where the water is deeper than the other parts. It could be a tricky situation since the visibility under the water is minimal.

However, as he puts the SUV into seemingly challenging parts of the river, he gets more confident about the capabilities of the Thar. It never struggled for traction and made the driver feel confident. Finally, he is extremely impressed with the sheer ease with which Thar was able to trounce the obstacles revealing its true prowess. He wishes that the infotainment screen were a bit bigger, the dashboard layout be a it better and a 5-door setup be present. That would’ve made it unmatchbale, according to his anaylis.

The Thar comes with 2 engine options, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. The oil-burner makes 130 PS/320 Nm of peak figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/320 Nm of max figures. Transmission options for both the powertrains are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with a low-range box. You also get a transfer case and a mechanically locking centre differential. As far as the off-roading trips go, you are covered on all fronts in a Mahindra Thar. It retails between Rs 13.53 and Rs 16.03 lakh, ex-showroom. The 5-door version is about to launch soon.
