Engine and Transmission
The limited edition Thar will source its power from 2.5 litre CRDe diesel engine and mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The power outputs of the limited edition SUV will be similar to the current gen Thar producing 105bhp and 250Nm of torque. Another engine which is the M2DICR has been discontinued by Mahindra which produced 63bhp with 195Nm of peak torque.
Safety
The limited edition of the Thar will get Anti-lock Braking system (ABS) of which the standard version is deprived of. The current Thar does not comply with India’s latest crash safety norms and will be stopped after October 1, 2019.
Second-gen Mahindra Thar
The second gen Thar has been spotted testing several times on Indian rounds which is why they are bidding goodbye to the current gen model. The new gen Thar might get a 120bhp or 140bhp diesel engine initially. After that, Mahindra is planning to add a petrol engine to Thar’s portfolio. We expect the newer generation will pack standard safety features, will be more refined and there will be lesser NVH levels.
