Tug of war is a common method YouTubers often use to determine the power of two cars against one another
In this post, I am narrating the happenings of a tug of war competition between Mahindra Thar Roxx and Jeep Wrangler. Both these are hardcore off-roaders, albeit they belong to two opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to affordability. The Thar Roxx is a comparatively less expensive vehicle which is why many people are opting for it. It strikes a great balance between practicality, performance, off-roading characteristics and cost. On the other hand, the Wrangler is a luxury off-roader which is why we see it in the garages of some top celebrities only. Still, let us see which one can pull the other convincingly.
Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Jeep Wrangler – Tug of War
The details of this case arrive from Small Town Rider on YouTube. The host has the two SUVs with him. For the first round, they have the SUVs in 4×2 configuration. On the count of three, the two drivers accelerate hard. However, no one was able to pull the other. For the next round, they switched to 4×4 Hi. This time around, the Thar Roxx was able to pull the Wrangler but the traction of the SUVs was on. Going again, the Wrangler pulled the Thar Roxx. Finally, they engaged the 4×4 Lo mode where it was a tie again. Just for fun, they even performed a tug of war between the Mahindra Bolero and a Jeep Wrangler. The Bolero won the first low with the help of the slope but the Wrangler was the winner in the second attempt.
Specs Comparison
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in two powertrain options – a 2.0-litre mStallion 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill. The power and torque outputs range from 162 PS (MT) / 330 Nm to 177 PS (AT) / 380 Nm with the former and 163 PS (MT) / 330 Nm and 175 PS / 370 Nm (AT) with the latter. On the other hand, the Jeep Wrangler carries a potent 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which produces a healthy 268 hp and 400 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels. Hence, the Wrangler is clearly the more powerful of the two. Still, the real-life performance was much closer than the stats would suggest.

My View
Tug of war is a cool technique to test the power of two cars. However, I must mention that it is not a great idea since cars could get damaged. That is why it is never a good idea to perform such acts in your own cars. It is okay to watch such content online, but you must not try to imitate it. Vehicles can have long-term damage to the components which might not appear at the time of the event. Therefore, I urge our readers to prioritize the well-being of the car first and foremost.
