Aftermarket car modification houses are able to perform all sorts of customizations on popular products, especially off-roading SUVs
This Mahindra Thar Roxx has been modified with the largest tyres I have ever seen. Roxx is the 5-door iteration of the regular Thar. Thar is an iconic moniker in India which has been around for years. In fact, it is the most successful off-roader in the country. To cater to a wider range of potential customers, the Indian auto giant launched the Thar Roxx. This strategy has worked well for Mahindra as it bagged a whopping 1.76 lakh bookings within the first hour. Some of those who have received the Thar Roxx have even taken it to the car shops. Here is one such example.
Mahindra Thar Roxx with Biggest Tyres
The specifics of this case stem from ISHAN8777 on YouTube. The vlogger goes to a prominent aftermarket car modification shop. There, we are able to see many vehicles being worked upon. In this case, the new Thar Roxx is taken to the mechanic. They have taken off the fenders of this SUV to install colossal tyres. The car shop owner talks about detailed hardcore modifications to make a Roxx uniquely capable. That is in the works. However, we are focusing on the Thar Roxx which has come there to get claimed 37-inch tyres.
We see the rear right wheel being replaced towards the end of this video clip. In order to accommodate this tyre, the fender had to be cut off and the cladding has been removed. Interestingly, during the shooting of this video, the front tyre is stock, which helps the viewers experience the difference between the two tyres. Also, the vlogger claims that this is a 37-inch tyre. However, there is no way to prove whether there is any truth to that. Still, I must admit that the alloy wheel and tyre look colossal.
My View
I must mention here that installing oversized alloy wheels and tyres is never a good idea for multiple reasons. Firstly, if the tyre size is too big, like in this case, many other customizations are needed which require high professional expertise. Also, it can alter the very capabilities of the vehicle or its components. Secondly, the added weight will negatively impact the mileage and put unnecessary stress on the engine. Finally, you can get challaned in some states for such modifications. Hence, I would want you to ponder about these aspects before going for aftermarket alloys and large tyres.
