Updated on October 24– Merely days after we reported the sighting of a hot yellow modified Mahindra Thar that would have reminded you of a Hummer, we’ve come across yet another example of the yellow-painted new-gen Thar. It must be noted that this SUV is not available with a yellow paint option from the factory but thanks to its Jeep Wrangler-like look, many are deciding to give it an aftermarket yellow paint. We believe this off-roader looks handsome in this paint scheme and the same should be made available as one of the colour options by Mahindra.
Originally posted on October 20– Here is a cool modified Mahindra Thar which could easily be mistaken for a short wheelbase version of a Hummer. The Thar is becoming an increasing popular SUV to install great modification techniques. People can make their Thars into whatever they want. The imagination and budget are the only two constraints there. This is one such example where the Thar owner has gone all out with the modifications on the Mahindra Thar. Mahindra is struggling to fulfil the bookings and the waiting period is almost 12 months in some cities. Let us discuss the modifications on this Mahindra Thar that is capable of giving a complex to the Hummer.

Mahindra Thar Gives Complex To Hummer
The images show the main reason for this is the yellow paint shade which is the trademark of Hummer. Thereafter, the rounded LED headlamps with projector lights add to the vintage look. The bumper has been cut off from the sides to ensure an off-road-oriented SUV. The front slats on the grille are finished in chrome and look premium. The snorkel pipe highlights the water wading power of the Thar. There is a yellow skid plate to protect the underbelly of the Thar in hardcore off-roading conditions. The side profile is dominated by the chunky wheel arches which have massive alloy wheels to fill the void. The hardtop and chrome belt on the front window gives it that premium lifestyle off-roader vibe that a lot of people love. This is definitely one such version of the Mahindra Thar that people would love to buy to have a resemblance with the Hummer which is almost 20 times its price.

The Thar comes with 2 engine options, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. The oil-burner makes 130 PS/320 Nm of peak figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/320 Nm of max figures. Transmission options for both the powertrains are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with a low range box. You also get a transfer case and a mechanically locking centre differential. The prices of the Thar range between Rs 12.78 lakh and Rs 15.08 lakh, ex-showroom. The direct rival of the Thar is the recently launched Force Gurkha.
