The walkaround tour of the Mahindra Thar Earth Edition is out. Mahindra has recently introduced the Earth Edition of the Thar. As its name suggests, this model draws inspiration from the iconic Thar desert. Being a distinct variant of the regular Thar, the Earth Edition is built upon the LX hard top model. Buyers will have the option to choose between petrol and diesel engines, as well as manual and automatic transmissions. It’s important to note that the LX trim features a 4×4 configuration, thus the Earth Edition will be exclusively available with this drivetrain. There’s a premium of Rs 40,000 over the corresponding trims of the regular Thar. Let’s explore the SUV here.

Mahindra Thar Earth Edition Walkaround
This video comes from GA.Automotive on YouTube. We have to start this tour by talking about this Desert Fury colour which is exclusive to this special edition model. It gets sand dune graphics on the front door and fender. At the front, it gets the same halogen headlamps, turn indicators and fog lamps with a black rugged bumper with Thar lettering. The grille contains Desert Fury-coloured slats with matte black Mahindra lettering. This colour is also seen on the alloy wheels. There is also an Earth sticker on the B-pillars.

Interior and Features
Just like the exterior, there aren’t all that many customizations on the Earth Edition. Still, there are some prominent and exclusive elements like Desert Fury-coloured door panels and elements around the AC vents, new leatherette seats with beige stitching and black contrast, and Earth badging on the seats. Another body-coloured element is present on the steering wheel as well. Also, there is plenty of use of dark chrome inside the cabin on the steering logo, centre console, etc. The main attraction has to be the Thar Earth Edition badging with numbers on a metallic plate on the left side of the dashboard.

Specs
The standard Thar offers three powertrain choices – a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol, a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel (exclusively for the RWD trim) engine. However, the Earth Edition will be limited to just the first two engine options. The turbo petrol is the more potent of the pair, delivering 150 hp and 300 Nm, while the diesel variant produces a respectable 130 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. Transmission options include either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. As previously mentioned, it is available only in a 4×4 configuration with a hard top. For comparison, the standard Thar also offers all these engine-gearbox combinations, with the addition of a 115 hp / 300 Nm 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill, exclusively in RWD configuration. This broadens the appeal of the Thar to a wider audience.
