Despite the concealment, the vehicle’s distinctive silhouette is clearly visible. Many exterior features seem consistent with the standard Thar, such as LED taillights and a rear-mounted spare wheel. Of particular note, the side profile displays the added doors and increased length of this variant. Impressively, the upcoming SUV appears to be as substantial as the Mahindra Scorpio N when observed in profile.

The 5-door Mahindra Thar should offer the same engine options as its 3-door counterpart. This includes a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel and a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. The turbo-diesel engine delivers 130 hp and 320 Nm of torque, while the turbo-petrol engine provides 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Both engine variants come with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, featuring a low-range transfer case. Additionally, the vehicle incorporates a specialized center differential with mechanical locking capabilities, enabling 4×4 operation. The new model shares its underpinnings with the Scorpio N, contributing to its larger dimensions. Regarding pricing, existing Thar models range from Rs 10.98 lakh to Rs 16.94 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the 5-door version is expected to come at a slightly higher price point.
