As you can see in the images above, the all-new 4×2 Mahindra Thar will be available in two color options – Everest White and Blazing Bronze. It will also come in two engine options (Petrol and Diesel). The 2.0-liter turbocharged mStallion TGDi petrol engine is said to offer around 150 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the 1.5-liter diesel engine comes with a D117 CRDe diesel motor that will offer 117 PS of max power and 300 Nm of torque. It will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
Additionally, the upcoming Mahindra Thar RWD models are said to come with a hardtop as standard. Recent documents hint at multiple new features. This will include fog lights, electronic ORVMs, black bumpers, molded exterior steps, cruise control, ESP, and 18-inch alloy wheels. In addition to the Blazing Bronze and Everest White, it is likely to keep the four color options (Red Rage, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, and Aquamarine) of the 4×4 Mahindra Thar. On the inside, the off-roading SUV is said to feature a touchscreen infotainment system with speakers positioned on the roof.

The Mahindra Thar 4×2 is likely to come with a more affordable price tag. In fact, this might be the main reason behind the removal of the bulky 4×4 system and the addition of smaller displacement engines. Additionally, the new SUV definition will further help Mahindra to keep the aggressive pricing for the Thar RWD models. As per the recent official GST council meeting, a higher rate of compensation cess (22%) is applicable to motor vehicles with more than 1500cc of engine capacity, 4000mm of length, and 170 mm of ground clearance. Since the Mahindra Thar’s length is less than 4000 mm in length, it will attract lower tax rates than full-sized SUVs. The company might also produce more units of the new Thar variants.
