The Mahindra SsangYong Rexton W is the new kid on the block when it comes to the mighty SUVs in India. It is seen as an emerging SUV all because of its competitive pricing and is significantly cheaper than the Fortuner & Endeavour and in one of our recent posts we compared these two – Mahindra SsangYong Rexton Vs Toyota Fortuner. Now the next SUV to be compared with the Rexton, which is also the second best seller in the premium SUV space, is the Ford Endeavour. So lets go ahead with a detailed comparison of Mahindra SsangYong Rexton Vs Ford Endeavour.
Exteriors
The new Rexton is surely a better looking car than the previous Rexton, and is miles ahead of the latter. The feel is quite elegant and it certainly can draw your attention. But as far as the road presence goes, it still lacks it and maybe the next version would carry the road presence which the updated Rexton lacks.
The Endeavour is not a good looking car either. A lot was expected from the facelift version of the car but Ford really disappointed us and its fans. Looks are certainly not up to the mark and we shall call it a tie here.
Mahindra Rexton Dimensions
- Length = 4755 mm
- Width = 1900 mm
- Height = 1785 mm
- Wheelbase = 2835 mm
Ford Endeavour Dimensions
- Overall length (mm) : 5060
- Overall width (mm): 1788
- Overall Height (mm): 1826
- Wheelbase (mm): 2860
The Rexton is already longer than the Fortuner, but the Endeavour is still longer than the two. It is taller and also has a better wheelbase, while the Rexton is significantly wider.
Interior
On the interiors the car is superbly impressive. What you see on the inside is excellent fit and finish, plush leather seats and great quality plastics. Although the design of the central console is simple, it looks decent and goes well with the inviting qualities of the interiors. Some of the features that the car has are a touchscreen interface for the audio system, DVD player, Bluetooth telephony, satellite navigation, sunroof, climate control, rear parking sensors, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control and steering-mounted audio controls.
The Endeavour gets good plastic interiors with a nice dash and console design. The dark colour tone may not appeal to many but it is fairly good overall. Features list includes new SAT NAV system, in-car DVD player, Reverse parking camera, ABS with EBD, airbags, 6 CD changer, 2nd and 3rd row personalized AC vents, and much more.
In terms of feature no doubt Rexton is better and is comfortable too. The Endeavour still lacks a couple of features which Ford should have added by now.

The Rexton is available with a 2.7 litre engine which has been tuned differently for the manual and automatic variant. Both the variants differ in terms of power and torque output. The Endeavour on the other hand is available in two engine options; a 2.5 litre unit and a 3.0 litre unit. The 2.5 litre unit offers less power but almost same amount of torque when compared to the manual Rexton. The 3.0 litre Endeavour offers less power and torque than the Rexton automatic.
An important thing to be mentioned is that the Rexton gets all wheel drive (4×4) system on both the manual and automatic models. Further the top end Rexton variant comes with all wheel drive system along with an auto box. The base Endeavour manual variant comes with 4×2 system only, while the 4×4 is also available with an auto gearbox in the top end Endeavour.
Ride and Handling
The Rexton is more powerful but lacks the pleasure. Contrastingly the Endeavour is a good to drive car but features leaf springs which makes it less technically abreast. The suspension of the Endeavour could have been updated.
Price And Value For Money
The Rexton W RX5 MT has been priced at Rs. 17.75 Lakh and the RX7 AT 4WD is priced at Rs. 19.75 Lakh, both prices ex-showroom New Delhi. The Ford Endeavour starts at Rs.18.19 lakh for the base 4×2 MT variant and ends at Rs. 21.19 lakh for the 4×4 AT variant.
Verdict– Mahindra Rexton Vs Ford Endeavour
The Rexton is cheaper and more feature rich and is more powerful also. The Endeavour comes with on-the-fly all wheel drive system which is exclusive to it, and has the reliability and durability. The Rexton is cheaper and has better gadgetries which makes it an obvious choice. But we call it a tie and would recommend you to test drive both the cars before jumping to any conclusion.
