Mahindra Scorpio N has scored a full 5-star safety rating on the NCAP test. Since its launch, the SUV has witnessed unprecedented demand with waiting periods stretching up to 2 years for some variants in some cities. Scorpio was already a household name in our country since time immemorial. With the Scorpio N, Mahindra also included a newer audience who wanted a premium and plush version of the veteran and rugged SUV. Hence, the crazy demand was justified. With the 5-star rating against its name, it is bound to attract even more people. Also, it’s worth a mention here that this is the second modern-day Mahindra, after the XUV700, to receive a full 5-star score.

Mahindra Scorpio N Scores 5 Stars at Global NCAP
Mahindra Scorpio N was able to score 29.25 points out of a possible 34 in the adult occupant protection category. This was enough to achieve a 5-star rating. Delving into the details reveals that the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck offered good protection, while their chests showed marginal protection. Their knees offered good protection. The footwell area was rated as stable and the bodyshell was also rated as stable and capable of withstanding further loadings. In the side impact test, the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis protection was good.

In the child occupant protection category, the Scorpio N scored a decent 28.93 points out of 49 equivalent to a 3-star rating. For the child occupant of 18 months, as well as 3 years, the seats were installed rearward facing using the i-size anchorages and a support leg. It was able to prevent head exposure during the frontal impact offering full protection. Both CRSs offer full side impact protection. All in all, the Scorpio N is rated as a 5-star product. Also, the top-selling SUV becomes the only ladder-frame Indian SUV to bag top honours at the updated Global NCAP test bed.

Mahindra Scorpio N comes with a 2.0-litre mStallion direct-injection turbo petrol engine that produces 200 PS and 380 Nm. It even offers a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that is available in two tunes. It produces 132 PS / 300 Nm in the lower variant and a massive 175 PS / 400 Nm of peak power and torque in higher variants.
