Aftermarket alloy wheels represent the most ubiquitous practice to change the appearance of any car significantly without getting into other detailed modifications.
This has to be India’s first Mahindra Scorpio N with mammoth 26-inch alloys. Scorpio N has been an extremely popular SUV in our market ever since its launch last year. While it carries the name (Scorpio) forward which has been a symbol of ruggedness and reliability in the utilitarian space, Mahindra has taken things toward luxury and convenience with the Scorpio N. However, some Scorpio N owners still take their SUVs to the aftermarket to make them look even more enticing. This is an example of it.

Mahindra Scorpio N with 26-inch Alloys
The video clip has been posted by karan_automobile on Instagram. The caption clarifies that this is the first Scorpio N with such ginormous alloy wheels. These feature a design pattern that is similar to the rotors of a turbine but the sheer size of these attractive alloys is colossal. For reference, the rear tyres are kept stock for this video which compares the two side by side. This has led to an increase in the ride height too.

The main advantages of having such humungous alloys include aesthetic benefits and a broader surface area which enhances the grip on the road particularly around the corners. However, the downsides could be many including low fuel economy due to the added weight, a compromised ride quality because the side wall of these tyres is small which makes the bumps from the roads seep into the cabin and of course, the cost. These could cost you a fortune. In fact, with so large wheels, there have to be some adjustments made to the mechanicals and suspension setup too.

While these may look cool, we don’t recommend our readers go for such upsized alloys. There is a limit to what is acceptable and what is not. We reckon going overboard with the tyre size can have more disadvantages than advantages and could even be dangerous since the braking power could get affected because of the weight of the tyres. Hence, there are just too many adjustments needed to use these which is why we don’t recommend it.
