Mahindra and Mahindra has been overwhelmed with the response it has got for the Mahindra XUV 500, so much so that its eating up a part of the sales of the older sibling Mahindra Scorpio which is a priced slightly below the XUV500. To make Scorpio more attractive to off-roading enthusiasts, M&M has introduced the 4 wheel drive option for Mahindra Scorpio LX variant. The idea behind introducing this model is to offer a better alternative for a 4 wheel drive and also stay ahead in the competition against low priced SUVs like the Tata Safari and upcoming compact SUVs in India.

The Scorpio LX is powered by same 2.2 Litre diesel engine which produces 120 BHP of peak power and a whooping 290 Nm of peak torque. The Scorpio LX 4WD is not a full time 4 wheel drive, it can be switched between the 2WD and 4WD modes with 4WD having two options, 4L and 4 H (high and low gears options). The exteriors and interiors of the Scorpio LX 4WD do not get any special facelifts, the price of Scorpio LX 4WD is Rs. 9.18 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.
