Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid Launched; Price- Rs 12.84 Lakhs for S10 2WD Model

Mahindra and Mahindra has launched a new ‘mild hybrid’ version of the Scorpio. The new Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid is priced at Rs 12.84 Lakhs for the S10 2.2-litre 2WD Manual Transmission variant. The new Intelli Hybrid system provides electrical assistance to the engine to optimize the fuel efficiency. The Intelli Hybrid replaces the ‘Micro Hybrid’ Start-Stop system that is being offered currently. In essence, the Intelli Hybrid is similar to the SHVS system by Maruti Suzuki. Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid Price in India

The new Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid is priced at INR 12.84 Lakhs for the S10 2.2-litre Manual Transmission variant. The new Intelli Hybrid system is currently available on the 2.2-litre engine variant only. The 1.99-litre variant of Scorpio that has been launched for Delhi-NCR misses out on this new hybrid tech. The Intelli Hybrid is also not available with the entry-level 2.5-litre engine variant.

Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid Specifications

Apart from the inclusion of the new mini Hybrid system, the Scorpio remains unchanged. This means that it continues to be powered by a 2.2-litre Turbo-Diesel engine that can be ordered with either a manual or an automatic transmission. However, the Intelli Hybrid is currently unavailable on the Automatic models. \

The new Intelli-hybrid system is similar to the SHVS from Maruti. It comes with a start-stop system along with an energy recuperation system. It also gets a larger battery and an integrated starter motor that not only works as an alternator to charge the battery but also provides an electric boost to the motor to reduce fuel efficiency consumption. However, unlike the full electric systems, it won’t be able to run the entire vehicle on its own.

The current generation Scorpio features a new body-on-frame chassis. The new chassis is much stiffer and lighter due to hydroforming. The new chassis makes the Scorpio less jittery at high speeds and a better handler too. The manufacturer has claimed the handling problems suffered by the previous generations of the Scorpio due to their high-centre of gravity have been corrected.

Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid Mileage

M&M claims that new Scorpio Intelli Hybrid is as much as 7% more fuel efficient than the regular model. Hence, the new Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid will offer slightly higher fuel mileage than the regular 2.2-litre variant. Here are the estimated mileage figures-
