At a time when the entire automobile industry is reporting with declining sales month after month, Mahindra records a growth in sales of 4% for June, 2019.
The Automobile industry has been witnessing a decline in sales since last year. Almost all manufacturers have been reporting decline in sales for the past few months. Even for June, almost all manufacturers reported a decline in sales except for one. And that’s Mahindra who managed to have a 8% growth in sales in June. Now that’s a huge achievement and its all due to the XUV300 and Marazzo MPV.
Mahindra sold 17,762 units of vehicles in June. In comparison, they sold 16,454 units in June, 2018, thus recording a growth of 8%. Mahindra recorded a growth of 4% in the passenger vehicle segment and 8% in the utility vehicle segment. The Bolero still remains their best selling vehicle with 5,118 units sold in June. However, even the sales of the Bolero saw a de-growth of 18% from last year. The Bolero was also updated with new safety features and ABS some time ago.
However, what really made the difference for Mahindra is the new XUV300. Mahindra sold 4,769 units of the XUV300 in June, in the process also beating the Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport in terms of sales. Mahindra also just launched an AMT variant of the XUV300 which will be offered on the W8 diesel variant and W8(O).

As for other Mahindra vehicles, all of them mostly recorded a drop in sales by various margins, the KUV100 and the XUV500 recording the most drop in sales – 83% and 58% respectively. It was primarily the XUV300 and the Marazzo which gave Mahindra a growth of 4% in sales over June, 2018. However, that said, Mahindra is readying an entire fleet of vehicles for a major generation change and that includes the Thar, XUV500 and also the Scorpio. All these cars are slated to launch in 2020 and Mahindra will surely see a greater increment in sales by then.
