The Mahindra S201 is going to launch in India sometime during the first half of 2019. Latest spy images show this Maruti Vitara Brezza challenger in an almost production ready avatar.
The Mahindra S201 or popularly known as the Mahindra XUV 300 (Read More) is going to launch in India soon. It is based on the current generation SsangYong Tivoli and upon launch is going to compete against the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon.
Recent spy images, curtsey Powerdrift, show that this compact SUV is nearing its final production form. The vehicle seen in these images show an almost road-ready version of the Mahindra S201, though under the heavy camouflage of course.
The Mahindra S201 is expected to cost in-between INR 7.5 lakh to INR 10.5 lakh. And going by recent developments, it seems that it will have quite an expansive feature list, even for this price segment.

A panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, LED projector headlamps along with automatic headlamps and rain sensing wiper are amongst the top speculations.
Details related to its engine specifications are also under a lot of speculations. We expect Mahindra to introduce the S201 with both petrol as well as diesel derivatives. The petrol derivatives will get a 1.2-litre engine. While the diesel derivatives are going to feature a 1.5-litre oil-burner.

The 1.2-litre petrol engine is expected to produce around 100BHP of power. While its torque figure will range close to 150 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, is going to produce close to 123BHP along with 300 Nm of peak torque.
As standard, the Mahindra S201 is going to offer a manual gearbox. However, in sync with the changing times and customer demand, it is likely to offer an automatic gearbox as well. Whether this unit is going to be an AMT or a torque converter, remains to be seen.

By the looks of it, the Mahindra S201 is going to offer several safety features as standard across the range. Dual airbags along with ABS, EBD and rear parking sensors will be on offer right from the base variant.
There are a number of speculations which state that the Mahindra S201 will two seating configurations. A 5-seater version will be available at the time of the launch. In addition to this, it will also have a 7-seater version at a later stage.
The 5-seater version is going to measure under 4-meters in length. As a result of this, it will compete in the sub-compact SUV segment in India. The 7-seater version will quite obviously measure over 4-meters in length. And hence is going to stand against the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Honda BR-V.
