Mahindra Reva production facility has been awarded Platinum rating for its production facility by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). This makes Mahindra Reva facility first automobile manufacturing unit to get the platinum rating. Green building means a building manufactured to utilize the natural light and ventilation to reduce the power consumption and making the building energy efficient by using lower power consumption lighting, ventilation systems etc. which ensures minimal power consumption.
IGBS awards Credits to buildings for adhering to mandatory requirements, site selection and planning, water, energy and material conservation, indoor environment quality, occupational health, innovations and design process. These credits are used to evaluate the buildings for different levels of ratings.
These certifications are provided by IGBC which is established by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to enable the construction industry to be environmentally sensitive. IGBC is a consensus driven not-for-profit council representing the building industry, consisting of more than 1,300 committed members.
