Mahindra and Mahindra today launches its first small car which is a compact SUV Mahindra Quanto which is under 4 meter in length. The USPs of the new Mahindra Quanto is its competitive pricing starting at Rs. 5.82 lakhs with space, performance and comfort of a SUV / MPV at a price which is comparable to that of premium hatchback car in India. The Mahindra Quanto is a based on reduced platform of its larger sibling Mahindra Xylo and borrows many exteriors and interior design elements from it. Mahindra Quanto is powered by a 3 cylinder 1.5 litre twin-turbocharged CRDI Diesel engine mCR100 with peak power of 100 BHP @ 3750 RPM and peak torque of 240 Nm between from 1600 to 2300 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. This Quanto has a micro-hybrid start stop system which helps the car achieve an impressive mileage of 17.21 KMPL as tested by ARAI.The ground clearance is 180 mm which is higher than more small cars in the price segment. It also has a small turning radius of 5.4 meters.The Quanto gets 205/65 R15 alloys on the top end variants. This 1.5 Litre engine is world’s smallest engine with a twin-turbo technology and there are only some BMW cars in India which offer twin-turbo technology. No other Indian car offers a twin turbo engine.

Mahindra Quanto is a 7 seater car with two rows of seats and one pair of jump seats at rear which can be folded to make additional luggage space when there are 5 or less passengers in the car. The front styling of the Quanto is very similar to that of Xylo. The allow wheels used on the Quanto are same as on Xylo.
