The new special edition Mahindra KUV 100 CNG is expected to launch within the month. Upon launch, it will be called TUV 100 Tour and will offer the option of a diesel engine as well.
An auto company sells you a product. Each product holds a value against its image. If a vehicle is popular for being reliable, like the Toyota Innova, it holds value well even after prolonged use. In the other case, the value of your vehicle drops drastically. Another example that affects the image of a vehicle directly affecting its first-hand sales is the taxi industry. The more cars people spot being driven as taxis, the less likely they are to buy it as their personal vehicle. Cars are more than a means to travel, they are a flaunt-able luxury.

In order to keep the fleet owners to get their hands on brand new vehicles, the company decided to keep a lower trim of the phased out model offering bare-bones exclusively for the taxi industry. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire Tour is one such example and the Hyundai Xcent Prime being another. Mahindra lately has been big in the taxi industry especially with self-drive services. The automaker too, wanted a share of the pie, hence Mahindra KUV 100 CNG Trip.

Mahindra KUV 100 CNG – Specifications & Features
The Mahindra KUV 100 CNG Trip is based on the pre-facelift Mahindra KUV 100 K2 variant. The KUV 100 Trip variant will derive its power from a 1.2-litre petrol-CNG engine churning out 71 hp of max power. The diesel variant will feature a 1.2-litre engine with a max power output of 77 bhp and 190 Nm of torque.
Mahindra might even have plans to sell the KUV 100 Trip as a five-seater variant targetting Tier-I cities like Delhi and Mumbai. The KUV special edition will offer power steering, Airconditioning, steel rims, ABS with EBD. What it misses out are power windows. Perhaps they are anyway too easy and cheap to install in the after-market. Only two colour shades are available to order i.e. Silver and White.
