Mahindra GenZe

Mahindra GenZe electric scooter was last spotted in early 2018 and was also speculated to debut in India. Currently, it is sold in the US Market.

GenZe is a US-based electric scooter manufacturer, which is owned by Mahindra. Their Mahindra GenZe electric scooter is already on sale in US. Till now, there were mild speculations of it coming to the Indian market.

Now, IAB has uploaded a spy photo of the electric scooter testing on Indian roads. GenZe has been spotted plying on Nashik Highway, in Maharashtra, with an Indian number plate.

Could it be that Mahindra is considering bringing GenZe electric scooter to India? Since many electric scooters are coming to India in 2019-20, there are some possibilities.

Mahindra GenZe is a pure electric scooter. The name ‘GenZe’ comes from ‘Generation Zero Emmissions’. It is a futuristic looking urban scooter.

It is powered by a 1.6 kWh removable lithium-ion battery, offering a range of up to 48 kms. The scooter takes 3.5 hours to charge fully with a 110V charger. The top speed achievable is nearly 49 km/hr.

In the US market, Mahindra GenZe 2.0 comes in three variants – Genze 2.0, Genze 2.0S and Genze 2.0F.

The standard variant is offered with an adjustable seat, front storage area and open back area. The mid-variant is offered with lower handlebars, redesigned front fascia and sporty styling. The top-end variant is available with lockable storage compartment and electronically locking centre stand.

The scooter also gets a fully digital instrument cluster, which is Bluetooth integrated. Features include three years of telematics, remote tracking, disable scooter option and more. The top-end variant gets the electronic centre stand and touchscreen display.

As of now, there is official confirmation of it launching in India. If launching, we expect it to debut, probably by end of 2019.

We expect Mahindra to place it in an affordable price range and not in the premium range like Okinawa i-Praise and Ather 450.
