The Mahindra Design Chief, Kripa Ananthan shares a unique photo of the original Scorpio. She had decided to quit Mahindra Group earlier this year after being with the Indian auto giant for over 24 years. However, at the request of the company official, she decided to be with Mahindra until November 2021. But now, just days before leaving, she shared this photo of the original Scorpio which leaves everyone nostalgic. Reportedly, there has been quite a reshuffle at the Mahindra Group with Pratap Bose also starting his journey with Mahindra after being at Tata Motors for a long time. The Scorpio is all set to make its debut in a new-gen avatar very soon and it would be great to see how the popular SUV has evolved over the years.

Speaking of the engines, the Scorpio comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes 140 hp and 320 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. This engine comes mated to a sole 6-speed manual transmission. The higher trims also get a 4×4 drive system. The next-gen Scorpio is also about to make its debut very soon. It will feature Mahindra’s 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol engine that will make 150 hp. There might also be the convenience of an automatic transmission with the upcoming SUV. There are no direct rivals to the Scorpio but being positioned in the mid-size SUV space, one could think of the Creta and Seltos as the rivals although the purpose of these SUVs is completely different.
