Mahindra Bolero to get dual-airbags along with ABS as standard across the range. These additions are going to be carried out as a result of the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP).
The Mahindra Bolero is soon going to become a lot safer. Starting July 2019, the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) will come into effect. Under this, from then onwards, all the cars sold in India will have to have certain safety features as standard. These include airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), seat belt warning and reverse parking sensors. In order to meet this, Mahindra and Mahindra is going to introduce these safety features in the Bolero. Currently, this UV is the only product in the Mahindra’s portfolio which does not come with this safety features
The major market for the Mahindra Bolero is primarily rural areas. Hence, we often see them carry a large number of passengers. Introduction of these safety features will make the vehicle a better proposition for the semi-urban population.

That said, the Mahindra Bolero is no bare-bones vehicle. Currently, it comes with features like central locking, power windows and keyless entry. Also included on the feature list is a basic audio system that offers Bluetooth connectivity and a centre armrest on the 2nd row of seats. Other important features include a driver information display, wood trim finish on the dashboard and rear wiper with washer.

Currently, there are two variants of the Mahindra Bolero on sale in India. One is the sub-4 meter power+ variant while the other is the standard version. The compact variant is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine. This motor produces 70 BHP along with 95 NM of peak torque. The other one gets a bigger 2.5-litre oil-burner. This one churns out 63Bhp along with 180 NM of peak torque.
Mahindra and Mahindra is currently working steadily to launch new vehicles in India. Hence, the automaker will launch a total of four new products in our country. These will include a premium Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) along with three SUVs. The premium MPV will launch in India during the first quarter of 2018. The SUVs are likely to follow soon afterwards. Also on Mahindra’s list are the updated versions of existing models. By the end of this year, we will witness the launch of the XUV500 facelift.
