The future of EVs is quite bright with attractive upcoming products including the MG Cyberster and the new breed of EVs from Mahindra
In this post, I am comparing the details of the Mahindra BE 6e and MG Cyberster on the basis of the information available. Note that the BE 6e has been revealed by the Indian automobile giants and we know all the information apart from the prices of the entire range. Even the entry-level prices are out. The deliveries are slated to commence at the end of the February or starting of March 2025. On the other hand, the MG Cyberster will be showcased in January 2025, perhaps at the Bharat Auto Show. Still, it has been launched in many international markets already. Hence, we can compare various aspects of the two thoroughly from that information.
Mahindra BE 6e vs MG Cyberster – Price
As mentioned previously, we only know the prices of the base model of the BE 6e at the moment. It starts at an attractive Rs 18.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Note that this amount doesn’t include the cost of the charger and its installation. We will get the details of the prices of the entire range at the Bharat Auto Expo in January 2025. Similarly, there are no updates regarding the exact pricing of the MG Cyberster. Nevertheless, we will get to know the cost in the coming days.
Mahindra BE 6e vs MG Cyberster – Specs
The new Mahindra BE 6e is based on Mahindra’s scalable and modular born-electric INGLO platform and uses BYD’s Blade Cell technology with LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry. There are two battery sizes – 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The ARAI-claimed range on a single charge is 535 km and 682 km (550 km on WLTP), respectively. However, the Indian automaker claims that the users will be able to achieve a real-world range of around 500 km which is quite impressive. Furthermore, the BE 6e carries a compact ‘three-in-one powertrain’ (motor, inverter and transmission). Doing the charging duties is a 175 kW DC fast charger which juices up the larger battery pack from 20% to 80% in a mere 20 minutes. For home charging, you can use a 7.3 kW or 11.2 kW AC charger.
The power and torque figures range from 228 hp / 380 Nm for the smaller battery to 281 hp / 380 Nm for the larger one. There are 3 drive modes to choose from – Range, Everyday and Race. In the most aggressive settings, Mahindra says the electric coupe can achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 6.7 seconds. Driving enthusiasts can even access Boost mode which temporarily offers the entire power and torque to the EV for 10 seconds regardless of which mode you are in. In terms of the ground clearance, the EV offers 207 mm. Also, there are two boot compartments – 455 litres at the rear and 45 litres at the front (frunk).
On the other hand, we have to wait to see which powertrain the MG Cyberster offers. Still, we know that it carries a 77 kWh battery pack which sends power to electric motors for an all-wheel-drive configuration. The total output is 536 hp and 726 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This propels the sensuous electric sports car from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds. The claimed range on a single charge is 585 km. Moreover, you can charge it using a DC fast charger in just 40 minutes, while the home AC charger will take 4 hours to complete the same task. More details will emerge at the launch in the coming weeks.

Design Comparison
The most interesting aspect of both these EVs is their external appearance. I must admit both these possess unique characteristics which will definitely make heads turn on the road. The Mahindra BE 6e embodies the new-age design philosophy which, impressively, resembles the concept model a lot. At the front, we see an air duct integrated into the bonnet for great aerodynamics, a new logo, striking 7-shaped LED DRLs on the edges encapsulating the LED headlamps with a colossal gloss black element in the middle and a sturdy skid plate section underneath. Moving down the sides showcase colossal 20-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels and chunky wheel arches with gloss black claddings which even extend to the door panels and that sloping roofline. Finally, the tail section contains a shark fin antenna, a unique roof-mounted dual spoiler, an integrated boot spoiler and a full-width LED taillamp with a sturdy lower bumper.
On the other hand, the MG Cyberster has to be among the most beautiful and gorgeous electric sports cars on sale today. The overall flowing elements and body panels are enough to attract new people. The two-seater EV carries stylish LED headlamps, a curvy bonnet, a sealed-off front section, aerodynamically optimized front fascia with an appropriate bumper and a compact splitter. Moving to the sides highlight the massive 20-inch alloy wheels with scissor doors with electric openings, a two-door setup, and a sloping rear profile with a convertible rear section. Finally, the tail end also looks stunning with an LED light bar connecting the LED taillamps, LED turn indicators with arrow signatures, and an attractive rear bumper with aero optimization. All in all, both these have their individual identities.
My View
Now I shall revisit this post once the details of the new MG Cyberster are out and we know the prices of the entire range of the Mahindra BE 6e. In any case, these two belong to completely different price brackets with distinct use cases. Hence, people wanting to splurge on a high-end electric sports car can go for the Cyberster, while those on a relatively mass-market budget will have to choose the Mahindra BE 6e.
