In this post, we take a look at the details of a drag race between the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Verna. Both these possess different hearts, with the BE 6 being an electric car, while the Verna bears a turbo petrol mill. That is what makes things interesting. This event stems from kshitijahlawatvlogs on YouTube. The vlogger has the two vehicles parked side-by-side. For the first round, he drives the BE 6 is in Default Mode, while the Verna is in Normal Mode. On the count of three, the two drivers accelerate hard. The BE 6 remained ahead until around 95 km/h, which is when the Verna overtook it. For the second round, the BE 6 was switched to Everyday Mode, and the AC was switched off. This time around, the SUV emerged victorious. Similarly, in the final round, the BE 6 was faster of the two. Hence, the electric SUV was declared the winner.

The Mahindra BE 6 is on sale with two batteries – 59 kWh and 79 kWh. These are good for a decent claimed range of 535 km and 682 km (550 km on WLTP), respectively. Moreover, the power and torque figures range from 228 hp / 380 Nm for the smaller battery to 281 hp / 380 Nm for the larger one, respectively. Using a 175 kW DC fast charger, the larger battery pack goes from 20% to 80% in a mere 20 minutes. It gets three drive modes – Range, Everyday and Race. With the most powerful configuration, the acceleration from 0-100 km/h comes up in a mere 6.7 seconds. In India, the prices range from Rs 18.90 lakh to Rs 26.90 lakh, ex-showroom.

On the other hand, the Hyundai Verna possesses two engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, making 115 PS / 144 Nm and 160 PS / 253 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing the transmission duties is a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic, with the former and a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission with the latter. The prices range from Rs 11.07 lakh to Rs 17.55 lakh, ex-showroom.
