Mahindra Alturas has been launched in India, starting at a price of Rs 26.95 Lakhs. It competes with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V and Ford Endeavour.
Mahindra has introduced Alturas SUV in India. The prices of the SUV start at Rs 26.95 Lakhs going up to Rs 29.95 Lakhs. It comes in only diesel variant paired with only with an automatic transmission.
Alturas is basically a rebadged version of the Ssangyong Rexton G4. which is sold in the global markets. It gets some revisions and minor tweaks on the original Rexton G4.
Now, Alturas is the largest SUV in the Mahindra family, placed above Mahindra XUV 500. It comes in 7-seater capacity.

The bookings for the SUV are open for a few weeks now at a price of Rs 50,000. From 26th November, the customer test rides of Alturas will begin at the showrooms.

Mahindra Alturas gets a 2.2 Litre 4-cylinder unit, which produces 170 BHP and 420 Nm of peak torque. The engine is not BS-6 compliant as of now. The engine pairs up with a 7-speed automatic gearbox, without an option of a manual gearbox.

Alturas delivers a mileage figure of around 15 kmpl on an average. In real-world conditions, the figures can drop down to 11-12 kmpl.

Mahindra Alturas measures 4850mm in length, 1960mm in width and 1825mm in height. It gets a wheelbase at 2865mm.
Exterior
On the exterior, it looks like the most premium car that Mahindra has offered. In the front, it gets a chrome grille mesh with the Mahindra badging. It gets projector headlamps, which seem to be quite powerful. The 5-spoke alloy wheels make it look bolder than ever. At the rear, it gets a simple makeover with wrap around tail lamps joined by a chrome line. It gets an ‘Alturas G4’ badging on the boot.
Interior
Mahindra Alturas looks as premium inside as it is on the outside. It comes with dual-tone Nappa leather upholstery, making it look very premium. The brushed wood designed dashboard feels upmarket, fitting right for its price.
In the centre, it gets the touchscreen infotainment system surrounded by many knobs. The centre space feels premium but a bit cluttered.
Bits of chrome highlight is seen on the steering wheel, which comes with many audio and telephony controls.
Overall, it feels quite tech-savvy and premium and definitely better than the other Mahindra SUVs.

Competition
Mahindra Alturas competes with the likes of Isuzu MU-X, Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V and Ford Endeavour. This segment is dominated by Toyota Fortuner, which is one of the top-selling SUVs.
At this price, its top-end 4WD variant undercuts Fortuner, Honda CR-V and Ford Endeavour by a good margin. Combined with features, Alturas can be a good option.
