A partially disguised test mule of the Ssangyong Rexton G4 SUV has been spotted testing in South Korea. The Ssangyong Rexton G4 is sold in India as the Mahindra Alturas G4. This spotted test mule gives us some idea of how the Mahindra Alturas G4 facelift could look in India which is expected to debut in 2020.
The 2020 Mahindra Alturas G4 facelift does not change the car radically but there are some minor revisions to the face and the tail. The spotted test mule was seen wearing camouflage only on the face and tail section. From what can be made out, there seems to be a larger hexagonal grille with new headlamp units and a reprofiled bumpers with new fog lamp housings as well.
The test mule featured absolutely no changes on the sides but the rear section was completely covered. One can be expecting a revised tail lamp along with reprofiled bumper as well. On the inside, improvements are expected to primarily focus on addressing the customer feedback which includes colour themes, materials, fit and finish, etc.
Currently, the Alturas comes in two variants – G2 and G4. The SUV gets a 2WD drivetrain for the base variant. The G4 variant comes with a 4 Wheel Drive system. As for the engines, the Alturas comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 170 BHP and 420 Nm of peak torque. It comes only with an automatic gearbox, for which it uses a Mercedes-sourced 7-speed AT unit. The facelift to the Alturas G4 will also include the engine being updated to be BS-VI compliant.
