The deliveries of Mahindra Alturas have begun through premium dealerships. It retails through the ‘World of SUVs’ dealerships that offer a premium experience to the customers.
Mahindra Alturas has been launched as the flagship premium SUV in their lineup. The production of the SUV began prior to the launch and so did the bookings for the SUV. Now, the deliveries of the SUV have commenced.
Most of the dealerships started getting units of Mahindra Alturas during its launch week. Now, the deliveries of the first batch have begun from its ‘World of SUVs’ dealerships. World of SUVs dealerships offers a more premium experience for the customers.
The world of SUVs dealerships are basically placed inside the existing Mahindra showrooms. Based on the photos, it looks like Mahindra XUV500 will also be available in these dealerships. Both these SUVs qualify as premium SUVs, priced nearing or above Rs 20 Lakhs.

Mahindra Alturas is based on Ssangyong G4 Rexton SUV and is literally a rebadged version of Rexton. Rexton G4 is popular in the global markets. Alturas looks very identical to Rexton with minor visual upgrades and a different engine.
It comes in two variants – G2 and G4. The base variant comes at a price of Rs 26.95 Lakhs and the G4 goes for Rs 29.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
Alturas comes with a 2.2 Litre diesel engine that produces 170 BHP and 420 Nm of peak torque. It comes only with an automatic gearbox, for which it uses a Mercedes-sourced 7-speed AT unit.
The SUV gets a 2WD drivetrain for the base variant. The G4 variant comes with a 4 Wheel Drive system.

Features onboard Mahindra Alturas include LED Projector Headlamps, Automatic headlamps, Rain-sensing wipers, 8-way adjustable driver seat with memory function, Dual-zone climate control, Touchscreen infotainment system, Voice command, Panoramic Sunroof and Automatic Tail-gate.
Safety features include Dual front airbags, Side and curtain airbags, ABS, Electronic brake force distribution, Electronic stability control, Hill Descent Control, Hill Ascent control, Parking sensors and a 360-degrees Parking camera.
The SUV offers 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels as standard fitment. It uses a monocoque chassis, which gives it SUV-handling abilities.
Mahindra Alturas goes off against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V and Isuzu MU-X facelift.

In this competition, Fortuner is the biggest player, mainly because of its high dependability. However, Alturas offers many more features, which gives it an edge over Fortuner.
