Car lovers in the Philippines were readying for this pint-sized lightweight off-roader in a 5-door guise for a long time now. In fact, the news about its potential arrival was floating for almost a year after it was first showcased at the Indian Auto Show in the beginning of last year. Note that India already exports the regular Jimny to the Philippines. Also, as per some reports, around 30% of all 5-door Jimnys produced in India are for export purposes. Therefore, the Philippines will be a recipient of the iconic off-roader too.

5-door Suzuki Jimny Teased in Philippines
A lot of people have spotted this 5-door version of the Jimny in Indonesia on multiple occasions recently. Indonesia is the largest car market in the region. That is what led people to believe that the launch in the Philippines market is near too. With this official teaser image, things are clearer. The caption in this image reads, “An Iconic Legend Just Got Bigger. Better. Bolder. Coming 5oon!” Using 5 instead of ‘S’ in ‘Soon’ indicates the arrival of the 5-door version of the Jimny. Therefore, the market is excited to have this affordable compact SUV with hardcore off-roading capabilities.

We expect the specs to be similar to the ones sold in India and exported to South Africa and Australia. This means a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 75 kW (102 PS) and 130 Nm of peak power and torque. It provides two transmission choices: a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. As a rugged off-road vehicle, it features a specialized ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 drivetrain. With a lightweight design, this SUV weighs only 1,185 kg and delivers a fuel economy of 6.4L / 100 km. The prices in the Indian market range from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh, ex-showroom. This roughly translates to 8,59,662 Philippine Peso to 10,15,535 Philippine Peso.
