This is an incredible feat for the Urus priced at Rs. 3 crores, ex-showroom, the idea of a Lamborghini SUV with all its practicality worked really well for the people in India.
The Urus was always supposed to bring in numbers for Lamborghini. But we did not expect quite like this. Lamborghini has sold 50 units of the Urus in India and that too in just one year. The first Urus was delivered in India in September of 2018 and now, one year later, Lamborghini India makes a new record with for the fastest 50 deliveries within the first 12 months since the first Urus was delivered in India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharad Agarwal, Head – Lamborghini India, said, ‘India was amongst the first few markets to launch URUS and we anticipated that URUS is going to drive our future growth in volumes. Over 70% of the URUS customers are first time buyers of the brand and with the URUS added to the Lamborghini model range, it continues to expand our reach to new geographies in India.
Having sold 50 units of the Urus in just about an year is quite an achievement in India. The Urus is quite an expensive car with a price of Rs. 3 crores, ex-showroom. This makes it one of the best selling premium cars in this range. Seems like the idea of the practicality of an SUV with the performance of a Lamborghini worked really well for the people. No wonder why all manufacturers are getting down to building SUVs. Also, this is the only Lamborghini with four doors where you can sit four people with fair amount of luxury and that really works well with Indian buyers.
The world first cringed at the idea of an SUV from Lamborghini. Particularly because Lamborghini had said that it would be sharing bits and bobs with other SUVs in the Volkswagen Group which includes the Bentley Bentayga and the Porsche Cayenne. However, when people did try out the Urus for real, it proved itself every bit a Lamborghini.

Well the numbers definitely will convince you about that. The Urus is powered by a 4.0L, twin-turbocharged V8 engine which puts out 650 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. Yes, its a Lamborghini without a V10 or a V12 engine but it accelerates the Urus from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 12.8 seconds, with a top speed of 305 km/h. It also comes with six different drive modes, some modes even dedicated to off-roading apart from the usual road and track modes you see in every Lamborghinis.

The Lamborghini Urus is a very versatile car. It bears the Lamborghini DNA, it is ridiculously fast, capable on a track as well as off the tarmac and comes with practicality in the form of an SUV seating four people. What more do you need for India? Oh, and did I mention about the looks, that being one of the most important factors in buying a Lamborghini. It sure commands a lot of road presence. And the numbers are not going to stop at 50 but keep soaring higher. Lamborghini sure has a winner in their hands here in India.
