The first sighting of the production version of the Kia SP Concept based SUV has been caught testing on a video!
Kia’s new compact SUV for India is one of the most anticipated products.
When launched, it will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.
The vehicle seen in the video looks to be like the final production-ready iteration of the Kia SP Concept SUV.
And the interesting thing to note here is that this SUV looks quite identical to the concept iteration which we all saw at this year’s Auto Expo.
Though heavily camouflaged, we can still make out the exterior silhouette of this SUV. By the looks of it, it seems to come with multi-spoke alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps and a proper SUV like appearance.
Details regarding the interiors of this SUV are still under the wraps.
Kia has been quite secretive about the specifications and other important details regarding this compact SUV.

However, from what we know so far, we can say for sure that it is going to use the same underpinnings as that of the Hyundai Creta.
As most of you must be aware, Kia is Hyundai’s subsidiary and hence both these brands share product underpinnings across their range.
The two cars will not only share their underpinnings but are also going to share their engines, gearboxes and several other mechanical components as well.
The production iteration of the Kia SP Concept based SUV is going to launch with both petrol as well as diesel derivatives.
It is likely to offer a 1.5-litre VVT petrol and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine. These engines are likely to be BS-VI complaint.

The SP Concept based SUV from Kia is going to be the brand’s first product for the Indian market.
Its prices are expected to fall in-between the range of INR 9 lakh to INR 15 lakh.
Kia Motors has not officially confirmed a launch date for this Compact SUV as of yet.
However, we can say for sure that the launch is likely to happen sometime during the second half of the year 2019.
