It is a common sight during winters to see vehicles getting stuck in the Himalayas. People with 4×2 cars end up travelling to high altitude places and getting stuck there.
In a recent incident, a Kia Sonet was seen rescued by the BRO (Border Roads Organisation) at a high altitude location. While the details of what exactly happened are not available, it seems like the classic case of tourists travelling to high altitude places in the Himalayas in not-so-great cars. By not-so-great, we mean the 4×4 vehicles that are required in such harsh terrains. Especially in snow and off-roading scenarios, it becomes paramount to have any kind of all-wheel-drive vehicle. Let us check out the details of this Sonet.

Kia Sonet Rescued At High Altitude
These images have been shared by its owner on Facebook where he talks about his trip to Zanskar valley in Ladakh. He took his white Sonet, which doesn’t come in a 4×4 configuration. Although the roads, in general, are good in Ladakh, one could easily find himself/herself taking an off-road trip which could prove to be a bit too much for any regular vehicle. It seems like that is exactly what happened here. The Sonet is seen stuck in a patch of dirt track somewhere. The borders lying underneath the car might have caused the car to lose traction. The image captures the BRO truck performing a rescue operation.
