Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue will share their engines. The former will hence get a 1.2 Litre petrol engine and a 1.0 Litre turbo petrol engine. Venue is losing out on its existing 1.4 Litre diesel engine and will instead get a 1.5 Litre diesel engine from Seltos. The same will go for Sonet.
Sonet Turbo Petrol will produce the same 115 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed MT, a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT. The latter, as expected, will only come on the turbo-petrol variants.
With the launch of Kia Sonet, the brand will enter the highly competitive compact SUV segment. In that class, we have the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and Mahindra XUV300.
