After witnessing several incidents of drivers sleeping in ADAS-equipped Mahindra XUV700, here’s a case of a Kia Seltos driver who sleeps behind the wheel
In the last few months, we’ve seen several videos of drivers sleeping behind the wheel of the Level 1 ADAS-equipped Mahindra XUV700. Just when we thought this was the heights of carelessness, we’ve got another video today that has pretty much left us shocked. Seen below is a Kia Seltos moving at a decent speed on an expressway while its driver is sleeping behind the wheel. For the uninitiated, the Seltos isn’t equipped with ADAS but the driver could have engaged the cruise control.

Dangerous Stunt by Kia Seltos Driver
The video that we have above shows the driver of a moving car asleep behind the wheel. Meanwhile, the car is moving on an expressway at a pretty high speed. The driver can be seen comfortably asleep on the seat with his legs folded. He must have engaged the cruise control to enable the SUV continue driving on a straight road without a manual intervention. Also, this simply looks like a stunt to create a reel for social media. The driver might not be actually asleep but with his hands and feet off the controls, this stunt is truly dangerous.
Even though the SUV seems to be moving on a straight expressway, the cruise control won’t be any good in case there’s a sudden need of direction change or braking. With his eyes closed and hands and feet off the controls, the driver is in no position to control the car in case of an emergency. Clearly, the driver had no control over the SUV for the entire period of shooting of the video. This is enough for an accident to take place.

Sets a Wrong Example
Moreover, this stunt by the Kia Seltos driver sets a very bad example for other road users. With cruise control now available on many mainstream cars, many might be tempted to attempt something similar. Sadly, the driver of the SUV demonstrates how one can have the vehicle drive on ‘auto pilot’ while the driver can close his eyes and sleep. We request our audience not pay attention to such acts of stupidity. One should refrain from copying these acts. Such stunts can harm self as well as other road users. Also, one should act responsibly and not set a wrong example even if he or she wishes to gain popularity on social media.
