Kia Motors has delivered more than 13,790 units of Seltos till date
Kia Motors launched its first in India with just two months before and it turned out to be a great success. Yes, we are talking about the Kia Seltos which has garnered over 60k bookings in just two months.
With the auto industry slurping and struggling for sales, Kia Seltos is just garnering its way up in the sales chart with so many bookings. This is the first SUV in its segment which comes in both petrol and diesel engine which are BS6 compliant.
Mr Manohar Bhat, Vice President and Head Of Marketing at Kia (India) has said, that with such an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers we are also focusing on the second shift of operations.

He also said, Ramping up production is a complicated process as it involves various external elements like vendors and reorganizing the domestic and international supply chain, etc. We have increased the pace of deliveries. India has shown tremendous potential and acceptance for us.
Kia Seltos is produced at the Anantapur facility based in Andhra Pradesh. This plant has an annual capacity of 3 lakh units and the company is saying to increase the size to 4 lakh units now. This plant also exports the Seltos in the international markets.
Kia Seltos is available in a total of three engine options – two petrol and one diesel. The diesel engine is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged motor which produces 115 Nm of power on tap and about 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission is handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AT.

The naturally aspirated petrol motor also sources its power from the 1.5L engine which produces the same amount of power as the diesel that is 115 bhp. The peak torque is 143 Nm. Transmission is controlled by a CVT gearbox and 6-speed manual MT.
The more powerful of the lot is a 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol unit. This produces 142 bhp with 242 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual is standard and it also comes with a 7-speed DCT.
Kia Seltos competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur and the recently launched MG Hector. The Hector is also a debutant like the Seltos and is making good amount of bookings with over 40k units.
The price of the Kia Seltos starts from Rs 9.69 lakh and the top model will fetch you around Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
