Carnival MPV could be Kia’s second launch after SP2i SUV in India!

When launched, the Kia Carnival MPV is expected to cost somewhere in-between the mark of INR 20 lakh to INR 25 lakh, competing against the Toyota Innova.

Kia is all set to introduce the production version of the SP Concept based SUV in India ahead of the festive season this year. The South Korean automaker commenced the trial production of the same at its all-new manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh yesterday. Kia has confirmed that after the launch of this new compact SUV, it is going to introduce five more products in India with a gap of 6 months each.

According to recently leaked information, it seems that the next product in line for Kia Motors in India is going to be its premium MPV, the Carnival or Sedona as known in some countries. The Kia Carnival MPV is launched in our country, it expected to be priced in-between the range of INR 20 lakh to INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom). If this speculation turns out to be true, then the said MPV will pitch directly against the Toyota Innova Crysta. In fact, it may even stand as a slightly premium alternative to the Toyota MPV.

The Kia Carnival MPV will be manufactured in India at the automaker’s Andhra Pradesh facility. It is going to be powered by a 2.2-litre, diesel engine. This engine will churn out 200 BHP of power along with 441 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are likely to be taken care of by a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Carnival is going to get a seating capacity of seven people. In terms of its dimensions, it is going to measure 5,155 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width and 1,740 mm in height. This MPV is going to get a wheelbase of 3,060 mm.

Just like the rest of the product from Kia, the Carnival MPV for India is also going to get a premium cabin. It is going to get a host of features and creature comforts in order to attract buyers in the premium people carrier segment in India.

Media reports state that after the launch of its second product, Kia Motors’ third product for the Indian market is likely to be a hatchback crossover. The same will be based on the next-generation Rio and launch in India in just the cross-hatch avatar to bank on the crash for utility vehicle in our country.
