Kia Motors is set to launch its second offering in India, the Carnival MPV. The premium MPV will be launched in February 2020, most likely at the Auto Expo.
After seeing the grand success of Seltos, Kia is gearing up for its second launch. The Kia Carnival MPV will be launched in India next year and it has already been spied testing on Indian roads. The MPV will be positioned in a segment over the Toyota Innova.
The Kia Grand Carnival is due a facelift anyway, and most likely that facelift will come with the India launch of this premium MPV. The vehicle will be pricier than its competition because of the latest technologies and more features.
The spy shot here indicates a clean design at the rear with LED taillights flanking and the chrome line sporting above the number plate. The MPV gets its name inscribed in chrome on the bottom left corner and KIA badging can be seen in between the taillights.

The front fascia of the Carnival will get the signature tiger-nose grille followed by projector headlamps. It also gets LED DRLs and agile large air dams. Dimension wise the MPV will come out at 5,115 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width, 1,755 mm in height and 3,060 mm in wheelbase.
Talking about the features onboard, Kia Carnival will is likely to get the UVO connected technology like seen on the Seltos. A large touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will come. Availability of dual-sunroof and three-zone climate control along with memory function for driver’s seat can be expected.
The safety features list available in Kia globally includes Dual-Front Airbags, Knee Airbags, Side and Curtain Airbags, Anti Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Distribution, Blind Spot Detection System, 360-degree Parking Camera and Rear Parking Sensors

The powertrain for the Grand Carnival includes a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit producing a total of 202 bhp with 441 Nm of peak torque. Transmission for the same will be a 6-speed manual gearbox, however, a 6-speed automatic can be expected too. There is another 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine which produces a whopping 270 bhp along with 380 Nm of torque.
The Kia Carnival will be an expensive product for Kia in India and it is expected to be priced around Rs. 25 lakhs. It would be first brought in through the CKD route and then assembled in the country. However, if the response for the Carnival grows and the company meet its sufficient demand, they will localise the car and utilize their plant located in Andhra Pradesh.
