Launched at Rs 8.98 lakh, the Kia Carens ends up being more affordable than the Kia Seltos while only being slightly costlier than Maruti Ertiga
The Kia Carens has finally launched in the Indian car market in an introductory price bracket of Rs 8.99 lakh-Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, the entry-level Seltos-based 7-seater Offering ends up being just Rs 87,000 costlier than the base-spec Maruti Ertiga and Rs 80,000 cheaper than the Seltos. It’s even Rs 1.16 lakh cheaper than the XL6, while still offering some segment-best standard features like 6 airbags.

Kia Carens has been launched with the same engine options as the Seltos. Therefore, it is available with 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine options. The entry-level petrol engine produces 115PS/144Nm and the turbocharged version churns out 140PS/242Nm. The diesel engine outputs 115PS/250Nm. A 6-speed manual transmission comes as standard on all the engines, while the automatic transmission options include 6-speed torque converter and 7-speed DSG for the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine, respectively. The Kia Carens comes with a 7-seater layout as standard but the top-spec Luxury Plus trim is optionally available with captain seats for the middle-row.
