Petrol Pump Sealed After Inquiry
The above-mentioned incident occurred in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. In what seemed like a normal petrol pump, the driver asked the attendant to fill the fuel tank of the car. After filling the tank, a bill for 57 liters was given. However, a high-court judge was sitting in the back. He was naturally shocked since his car’s fuel tank can only hold 50 liters of fuel. Immediately, the local administration arrived at the scene and sealed the fuel pump after an initial inquiry.
Additionally, the administration has organized a 14-member panel to keep an eye on the petrol pumps in the region. This panel will check the dispensing equipment at the petrol pumps. The calibration of the equipment will also be checked. The sealed petrol pump will only be opened after the district controller completes the inspection of all the fuel filling stations in the region. This is a great step to make sure the common man is not cheated in such scams. It is quite fortunate that a judge caught this scam.

Wrongly Calibrated Nozzles
Strict action on scamming petrol pumps is very important across the country. Almost anyone can be scammed at such stations. In 2021, a petrol pump attendant tried to pull a scam on a minister in Surat, Gujarat. This petrol pump was located in the Jehangirpura area in the city of Surat. It is an outlet of a private-owned company Nayara. The minister, in this case, was Mr. Mukesh Patel (state minister for agriculture, energy, and petrochemicals) who is an MLA from Olpad. He caught the petrol pump red-handed.

This scam was apparently going on for a while and Mr. Patel had received a lot of complaints from his constituency. When he himself drove to the fuel-filling station in his private car, the display of the fuel-filling machine was not working. When asked, the staff told the minister to look at the display screen placed on the other side of the machine. The minister immediately called the district collector of Surat to send an inspection team to the petrol pump. As suspected, the team found out that the nozzles used in the petrol pump were wrongly calibrated.
