Which player in the automobile industry does not want to be part of robust India growth story? The American manufacturer Jeep is doing the same via its holding company Fiat in 2014. Globally, the company owns some landmark brands like the Patriot, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited, Compass and Cherokee etc. Now it intends to roll out its Grand Cherokee in in India as well. Apart from this, the company had announced sometime back that it will launch a compact Jeep. Now it has been announced that the car will be called ‘Jeepster’ and the car is India bound as well.

The design as well as engineering inspiration for the new Jeepster has been inspired by come 5-door version of the Fiat 500X and this is clearly visible in the spy pictures. When we have a look at the final product, it will have many new elegant introductions in its interior as well as exterior. Jeep is planning to bring out all-wheel-drive as well as front-wheel-drive options for the new car.
In all probabilities, the Jeepster will be out to the market in the early half of the next year and will be priced lower than Cherokee to make it company’s cheapest offering. The name Jeepster has been used by the company earlier as well on more than one occasions. This is not the first time that the name Jeepster will be used by Jeep. Machine-wise, this will be a little different from the other offerings from parent company Fiat which mostly uses a DuaLogic robotized manual transmission to run its compact cars but this car will run on the regular automatic transmission.
With its lower price, better design and a dedicated India strategy, the car is all set to make an impressive India debut. With a significant number of Indian lovers, we expect that the car will do well here. Jeep has been a brand that has always had a cult following and now the brand is coming to India. And to get the volumes going, what better than a compact SUV to do so.
