Jeep is readying a sub-compact SUV for India to take on the likes of the Venue and Nexon and here’s a rendering of what it could look like. The new Jeep SUV is due sometime in 2022.
Just today, we reported to you about the Ford Ecosport completing seven years in the Indian market and the growth of the compact SUV segment since then. It was the Ford Ecosport that started this segment and now is its overcrowded with so many cars like the Vitara Brezza, the Nexon, the Venue and also the XUV300. There are still quite a few left to join this bandwagon and that includes the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. Perhaps the most exciting of them all will be the upcoming Jeep sub-compact SUV. Yes, even Jeep in building one.
And so here we have a rendering of what Jeep’s sub-compact SUV could look like. This picture has been shared by Motor1.com and the rendering draws from existing bigger SUVs in Jeep’s lineup. The face is unmistakably of a Jeep with its signature seven-slat grille but what’s really cool looking are the sleek LED headlamps flanking either sides of the grille. We know its only a rendering but we hope the productions-spec vehicle turns up something as cool as this. The face further builds on its muscular looks with a chunky bumper with large air dams and LED fog lamps.
The side profile of this Jeep sub-compact SUV has clearly been inspired by that of the Compass. The wheels however have been given a different design and although the rear portion has not been pictured here, going by the rest of the design, it will have a Compass-like design with sharper features in the tail lights and bumpers. Sometime ago, Jeep was spotted testing the Renegade in India and while previously it was thought that it is the Renegade that is deemed as for India as its sub-compact SUV, we clearly know now that its not. The Renegade was only being used as a test bed in India.

Jeep has said that the upcoming sub-compact SUV will be a true Jeep in essence and will perhaps take you further than most other sub-compact SUVs. We are unsure if Jeep will throw in a 4×4 drive system in the sub-compact SUV to make it more capable than the other but that will have a negative effect on its pricing. A 4×4 system will easily take it above the price segment it sits in. Jeep could however keep the 4×4 system reserved for the top-end variants and use it a niche feature to differentiate it from its competitors.

If this sub-compact SUV does not come with a 4×4 system at all, then we are really excited to see how Jeep makes this SUV a true Jeep and how far it can really go than the others. Having said that, the sub-compact SUV will anyway be very generous in terms of features. The Compass was once the best equipped SUV of its class and the most premium too and we expect Jeep to carry forward the same philosophy for what will be their smallest offering in the country. This Jeep SUV is due sometime in 2022. Although over-crowded, this segment is very fiercely competed and there’s a lot of excitement buzzing around here.
