Based on the Compass, the Jeep Meridian will offer a 3-row seating layout and will target the Toyota Fortuner
Recently, Jeep unveiled the Meridian SUV in the Indian market. It will be officially launched in May this year. The Jeep Meridian is being manufactured in India and will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. Now, test mules of the same have been spotted testing in a production-ready avatar. The new spy shots have revealed several features of the upcoming 7-seater SUV. For example, you can see the new alloy wheel design. Jeep Meridian Features & Specs
The new Jeep Meridian is based on the extended wheelbase version of the Compass. It retains several elements from the Jeep Compass but gets a few from the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. The three-row SUV features a seven-slat grille, along with LED headlamps, body claddings, integrated roof rails, and a new front bumper with integrated LED DRLs, LED fog lamps. At the back, you can see horizontally positioned LED taillights, an integrated spoiler, and a rear bumper with reflectors. While the top-spec model comes with 18-inch alloys with a unique design, the lower variants will get 17-inch alloys.
The new Jeep Meridian comes in four trims across 11 variants and seven exterior color shades. Customers will be able to choose from petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-liter Multijet diesel engine produces 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual and 4×2 system, or a 9-speed AT with either 4×2 or 4×4. On the other hand, the T270 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine outputs 187hp and 270Nm of torque. Additional features will include 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, ESC, electronic parking brakes, ISOFIX child seat mounts, traction control, seat belt reminder, wireless charging, power tailgate, hill-start assist, and rear parking sensors with rear camera. Jeep Meridian is expected to go on sale in a price range of Rs 25-35 lakh (ex-showroom). The new three-row SUV will be pitted against the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-X.
