While the Jeep brand may be relatively new in India, the name has been synonymous with off-road vehicles and SUVs for years now. That brand cachet is something the Compass will be banking on if it hopes to give the Hyundai Tucson a proper fight. Jeep Compass vs Hyundai Tucson Design Comparison
In terms of styling, the new 2017 Compass borrows heavily from existing Jeep products. It features their signature 7 slat grille and squared-off wheel arches. Top end models will get a projector headlamp setup along with LED DRLs as well as LED tail lamps. The overall design should go down very the Indian car buying lot. Like most current Hyundais, the Tucson is a looker too. Its styling might not be as butch as that of the Compass but is no less attractive. In fact, we feel it is one of the best looking SUVs currently on sale.
While the Hyundai Tucson gets a black and beige combo for the cabin, the Compass could feature and all black theme. Both SUVs boast the usual set of creature comforts including a touchscreen AVN, climate control and the likes. We will have to wait until the official unveil of the India spec model to know exactly what the Jeep Compass’ cabin will look like and what features it will get. In terms of space, however, the Tucson is roomier and also features a bigger boot.

Jeep Compass vs Hyundai Tucson Comparison Verdict
Right now, the only big hurdle standing in Jeep’s way is FCA’s reputation when it comes to after-sales services. As is the case with Fiat, FCA and their after sales services do not enjoy a very good reputation in India. This is where the Tucson has a major advantage over the Compass.
- Price – Thanks to local production, Jeep sports an aggressive price tag. Both the petrol and diesel engine-equipped Compass are cheaper, variant-to-variant, when compared to the Tucson.
- Specifications – The Jeep Compass comes with a 2.0 L Turbo diesel and a 1.4 L Turbo petrol. While the petrol Compass is more powerful than petrol Tucson, the case is reversed when both cars’ diesel engines are compared. The Compass does not get a diesel automatic variant for now.
- Looks – Looks are a matter of personal taste. We can’t find faults with the way either SUV looks.
