Jeep Compass Trailhawk gets increased ground clearance, improvements in water wading capacity and features which makes it a true-blue offroader.
Jeep finally launched the much anticipated Compass Trailhawk at Rs 26.80 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The hardcore off-roader sits above the Limited Plus Diesel 4×4 and the prices for the Jeep Compass Trailhawk sees an increase of up to Rs 3.60 lakh.
The highlight of this newly launched SUV is the availability of a 9-speed automatic transmission and that too in a diesel engine. Earlier, automatics were only favoured for the petrol trims.
The 2.0-litre FCA sourced Multijet diesel engine manages to pull out 170 bhp of power with 350 Nm of peak torque. It gets a BS-VI compliance engine which adds to the price difference. The 9-speed automatic gearbox is expected to power the normal versions of Compass too.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk prices are at a little premium than others but it sure does offer some off-road goodies on board. For starters, the SUV comes with redesigned front and rear bumpers which improve the approaching (26.5 degrees) and departing angle (31.6 degrees).
It gets a 4X4 Jeep Active Drive system, which is a low-range gearbox, gets a rear locking differential, hill descent control and the addition of Rock mode along with Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud modes for the Select-Terrain system.
The ground clearance is now higher by 25 mm and now gets improved water wading capacity to 480 mm opposed to 405 mm in the regular Jeep Compass. The suspension has been reworked and gets underbody skid-plates.
What differentiates the Trailhawk from the regular Compass is the black-matte decal on the bonnet, gun-metal finish to the window lining, fog-lamp housing, trailhawk badging all around and the new 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Trailhawk gets an all-black theme with red stitching and highlighting. It borrows a lot of things from the regular Compass Limited Plus trim. Like the large 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Auto Headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are an addition too for the Trailhawk. It also gets automatic climate control, 7.0-inch multi-info display, auto start-stop function, keyless entry and a panoramic sunroof as features.
Safety Features onboard include Six Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, Traction Control, Rear Parking Sensors, Seat belt Reminder and High-Speed alert system.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk surpasses a lot of its segment cars and above segment in terms of its capabilities. At a price point of Rs 26.80 lakh (ex-showroom), it comes quite close to bigger SUVs Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. For all off-road enthusiasts, this is a great value for money car under Rs 30 lakh.
