If you have to buy a 25 Lakh Jeep Compass in Nepal, you will have to shell out a whopping Rs 80 Lakhs. Here’s the reason why.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk is the newest addition to the stable and is now the top-spec trim of the SUV. Trailhawk is a more off-roading focused version of the regular Compass with certain differences. In India, it is priced for an exorbitant Rs 26.80 Lakhs (ex-showroom) and is loaded with very premium high-end features.
In the country of Nepal, the same Jeep Compass Trailhawk goes for an even higher price. There, it is priced at Rs 80 Lakhs (ex-showroom). That’s even costlier than the price of Jeep Wrangler in India. In Nepalese Rupees, the Trailhawk goes for Rs 1.24 crores, which is a shocking fact.

The primary reason for such a premium price is the high import taxes, increasing fuel prices and also higher local taxes. This Trailhawk is imported into Nepal and that’s why is costlier. We have a similar situation in India as well, where a lot a costly cars that we have are available in the budget department in many countries.
Take the Ford Mustang for instance. Here, it is priced an upwards of Rs 70 Lakhs (ex-showroom) whereas in USA, you can get it for just Rs 25 to 30 Lakhs. The same case is with the Compass Trailhawk which goes for Rs 10-15 Lakhs in the States. Another example is the Volkswagen T-Roc which is again costlier in India.
As for the Compass Trailhawk, it gets redesigned front and rear bumpers with better departure and approach angles. There’s the Jeep 4X4 Active Drive System with different drive modes include Rock, Snow, Sand, Mud and Auto. It also gets a low range transfer gearbox with rear differential locking and hill descent control.

It runs on the same 2.0 Litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. There’s no manual gearbox on offer but just a new 9-speed automatic gearbox. The price range of Compass begins at Rs 16.49 Lakhs and there’s nearly a Rs 10 Lakh gap between the base and top-spec variants.
