Jeep Compass Clutch Issues
The details of this case have been shared by the owner on Facebook. He mentions that he has owned the vehicle for 2.5 years. However, he had to tow the SUV to the service centre for the second time. While travelling on the road, the SUV suddenly stopped working. He was stuck in the middle of the road with his family. Reportedly, there was a breakdown due to problems with the clutch. The owner found it unsafe as the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with his family. This raises questions regarding the reliability of the product.

The owner mentions that he owns other cars too. In fact, he has been driving one of his cars for over 10 years. Still, he never faced the clutch issues with it. A grave mechanical defect related to the clutch is not common in modern cars. That is what makes this entire episode quite shocking. The owner is, understandably, frustrated and disappointed in the product. He is not sure when the vehicle would halt again and that trust in the brand is gone.

Jeep Compass comes with both diesel and petrol powertrain options. The petrol is a 1.4-litre turbocharged unit that outputs 160 hp and 250 Nm of peak power and torque. The diesel, on the other hand, comes with a 2.0-litre mill churning out 168 hp and 350 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. Both these engines could be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The 4×4 drive system is available with only the diesel unit. The prices of the Compass start at Rs 19.49 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 31.29 lakh, ex-showroom.
