Hit 4 Times by Truck
This incident has been reported by one Aman Gupta, an owner of a 7-month-old Jeep Compass. A couple of days ago, while travelling between Jammu and Srinagar on NH44, his vehicle met with a severe accident. As per him, his SUV was hit by a truck from the rear. The commercial vehicle as travelling at a high speed and the impact caused the Compass to go out of control. Reportedly, it was hit thrice more by the truck. It was pushed off the road and fell into a 20 feet ditch.
Thankfully, though, the owner as well as his family escaped any major injury. All the occupants got out of the pit to look for help. As per Aman, even his Jeep Compass didn’t face much damage as all the wheels and windows were intact. Even the infotainment unit was functioning. Also, a look at the pictures reveals that even the pillars and the roof are almost intact. The owner of the SUV has thanked the SUV for keeping him and his family protected in a major crash. His vehicle was taken out of the ditch by a crane.

The Jeep Compass on sale in India is yet to be tested by Global NCAP. However, several incidents, including the latest one, go on to show the high crashworthiness the SUV offers. From the looks of it, Aman’s Compass is in the top-spec variant, which comes with a host of safety features including 6 airbags, Brake Assist, ESC, Traction Control, ABS with EBD, Hill Start Assist, ISOFIX, 360-degree camera and parking sensors. Other features it comes with include electric tailgate, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats and 8-way electrically adjustable front seats. The SUV is on sale with two engine options – 1.4-litre turbo-petrol that outputs 163 PS and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel that outputs 170 PS. The former is available with an optional 7-speed DCT, while the latter can be bought with a 9-speed DCT.
