Jawa goes against the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350, just like the old times. Here are 5 reasons why Jawa is better than its primary competition. It also competes with the likes of Mahindra Mojo UT 300 and Bajaj Dominar 400.
Royal Enfield is one of the topmost premium motorcycle manufacturing brand in our country. Its best seller is the RE Classic 350, which actually makes it to the top-10 selling bikes every month.
Now, it gets its biggest rival back from the 70-80s. Jawa Motorcycles has made a comeback with 3 new models. Like Classic, these motorcycles also offer a retro-style feeling with a huge fan base.
Both classify as classic roadsters, while the new entrant is a bit modern version. The power figures of both the roadsters are nearing, so are the prices. The purpose of both the bikes also remains the same – Arriving in style.

So, here are 5 main things that make the Jawa better than Classic 350. However, there are some things that Classic 350 also gets better than this bike. So, read ahead to get the reasons.
Jawa comes with a smaller capacity engine but generates more power.
The latest entrant comes with a 293cc liquid-cooled engine, which is newly developed with help of Mahindra. The engine produces 27 BHP and 28 Nm of peak torque.
On the other hand, Classic 350 comes with a 346cc air-cooled engine that produces 20 BHP and 28 Nm of peak torque. It continues with the ageing TwinSpark engine.

Jawa comes equipped with BS-6 engines.
The emission norms are set to kick in from April 2020. Before that, all the vehicles have to upgrade to BS-6 compliant engines from BS-4 engines. We believe that a lot of vehicles will be updated by the end of 2019.
Likewise, Jawa already comes with a BS-6 engine. Since the engines will be upgraded, the prices will also increase. So, when Classic 350 will be upgraded, its price will accordingly increase.
Jawa weighs much lighter than the RE Classic 350
The modern roadster tips the scales at 170 kgs, whereas Classic 350 weighs around 192 Kgs. There is a significant difference in the weight, by 22 kgs.
Since the Jawa is lighter than Classic, it has a better top speed, mileage and also will be better to handle. Overall performance figures are affected by the weight of a bike.
Jawa gets more gears than Classic 350
The motorcycle comes equipped with a 6-speed gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch. On the other hand, Classic comes with a 5-speed gearbox.
More gears mainly offer better cruising at high RPMs. It also increases the fuel efficiency and overall pickup of the bike.

Lastly, Jawa offers a fusion of modern and retro design
The latest entrant is literally the revival version of the original one. It copies the same styling with identical headlamp cowl, spoke wheels, flat seat, twin pea-shooter exhausts and the bulbous fuel tank with ‘Jawa’.
However, despite offering a retro feeling, there are some modern touches over the bodywork, which make it look refreshed. The fusion makes it a Modern Classic Roadster.
On the other Classic 350 still resembles the old-school looks with old-school equipment. It also gets some identical design highlights like similar headlamp cowl, spoke wheels and flat seat, combined with oodles of chrome. Some might appreciate the old-school looks, but the millennial might like modern touches fused with the retro feeling.
