As we have already established in the past, this year and the future of mobility is going to go the electrification route. Whether we like them or not, EVs are here to stay. Realizing this, many carmakers are shifting their focus on investing heavily in electrification technology and electric powertrain development. As a result, many new EVs are coming to India and the Jaguar I-Pace is one such product. This is Jaguar’s first-ever BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) in our market and it will make the niche segment, at the moment, very exciting indeed. The I-Pace was launched on March 23 and we take you through all that the I-Pace has to offer.

Jaguar I-Pace – Exterior and Interior Highlights
The exterior of the I-Pace is typically Jaguar. There is a large blingy front grille that is functional in providing cool air to the batteries, the LED headlamps are very sleek and prominent, Aerodynamically optimized bonnet and LED Fog Lamps down on the bumper. The sides host the real coupe-like characteristics of the I-Pace with 19-inch bold and elegant alloy wheels, pop-out door handles, large and pronounced wheel arches and much more. At the rear, the LED tail lamps are very sleek and typically Jaguar making the car look wider, Rear Diffuser, Shark Fin Antenna with Camera for the rear-view, Full-length Glass Roof and an integrated Rear Spoiler. Overall, the I-Pace looks like nothing else than a Jaguar and that is only a good thing.

On the interior, the quality of materials used and the fit-finish are excellent. This is something that you typically expect from a car of this segment. There are various places that are covered in leather, the dashboard design, the storage spaces and overall feel of the cabin is plush. The boot space is a healthy and practical 505-litres.

Jaguar I-Pace – Features, Safety and Technology
On the features and technology front is where the I-Pace shines the most. The I-Pace comes with a 10-inch Digital Infotainment System with its latest Pivi Pro Connected Car Tech Software with Over-the-Air Remote Access, a smaller dual screen at the bottom for HVAC Controls, a 12.3-inch HD Instrument Cluster with sharp and crisp graphics, Wireless charging with signal boosting, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Bluetooth Connectivity allowing you to connect two phones simultaneously, ClearSight Rear View Mirror with live visual feed from the Camera with high-resolution visuals for uninterrupted rear view even if 5 passengers are sat in the car, Independent 4-zone Automatic Climate Control, Air Filter, Adaptive Air Suspension to adjust the ride height, Head-up Display, 16-speaker Meridian sound system, Adaptive Cruise Control, Powered Tailgate and much more additional optional features.
On the safety front, the I-Pace comes equipped with 6 Airbags, ABS with EBD, Traction Control, Stability Control, Front and Rear Sensors with 360-degree view Camera, Roll Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and much more.

Jaguar I-Pace – Powertrain, Prices and Rivals
The Jaguar I-Pace comes with a dual motor setup, one at each axle, that is powered by a 90 kWh battery pack producing 395 hp and 696 Nm. The power is sent to all wheels enabling a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 4.8 secs. There are various drive modes to choose from depending on the requirement. The WLTP range of the I-Pace is a decent 470 km. Jaguar I-PACE is provided with complimentary 5 years, service package, 5 years roadside assistance package, 8 years or 160 000 km battery warranty and a 7.4 kW AC wall mounted charger. There are plenty of charging stations being installed by Tata which can be used by the Jaguar owners across various cities of the country.

There are 3 trim levels for the I-Pace including S, SE and HSE. The prices are Rs 1.06 Crore, 1.08 Crore and 1.12 Crore, ex-showroom respectively and the rivals include the Mercedes-Benz EQC which costs Rs 1.04 Crore, ex-showroom. The Jaguar Land Rover Retailer network across 19 cities in India is EV ready and you can visit any of these to get your hands on the I-Pace.
