After launching the D-Max V-Cross pickup truck in India last year, Isuzu will now bring the MU-X to India. The MU-X will replace the ageing MU-7 and continue to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Ford Endeavour. Isuzu inaugurated its plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh in early 2016 built with an investment of INR 3,000 crore. Isuzu will launch the MU-X here in India on May 11, 2017. Prices of the Isuzu MU-X will fall in the Rs. 24 – 28 lakh range. Testing of the SUV is already underway in India. Read on for more details on the Isuzu MU-X India Launch, Price and Specifications.

Isuzu MU-X India Launch Date | May 11, 2017 |
The Isuzu MU-X launch in India will take place on May 11, 2017. Isuzu has been testing the MU-X in India for a while now. However, the model spotted in spy shots is the pre-facelift version. Earlier this year, Isuzu had unveiled an updated 2017 MU-X. According to reports, India will get the pre-facelift model (seen in images on this page).
The 2017 MY Isuzu MU-X was unveiled earlier this year and is already on sale in international markets.

Thanks to local production, we expect the Isuzu MU-X to come with an aggressive price tag. The MU-X range is likely to start around INR 23 lakhs going all the way up to INR 27 lakhs. A starting price of around 23 lakhs will place it below its key rivals Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Isuzu MU-X India – Rivals
The MU-X will rival fellow mid-size SUVs, which includes some popular names such as the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
New Toyota Fortuner | Price | New Ford Endeavour | Price | Chevrolet Trailblazer | Price |
2.8 Diesel | Rs. 27.52-31.12 lakh | 2.2 Diesel/3.2 Diesel | Rs. 26.63-28.62 lakh/Rs. 27.91-31.50 lakh | 2.8 L Diesel | Rs. 23.99 lakh |
While the upcoming SUV from Isuzu might have a price advantage over its closest rivals, it will still find it hard to match the strong brand image the Endeavour and Fortuner enjoy in India.

Isuzu MU-X India – Exterior Design
Isuzu MU-X’s front bears a very strong resemblance to the that of the D-Max V-Cross pickup truck. It gets identical headlamps. There are slight differences such as the chunkier chrome grille and a slightly different front bumper. Its side profile is reminiscent of the Chevrolet Trailblazer as the two share the same platform. So you get the same bulging wheel arches, same window area and wraparound rear glass. The rear end features split tail lamp, a dash of chrome and bumper mounted reverse lamps. 17-inch alloys, chrome door handles and silver roof rails round off a very muscular exterior design of the Isuzu MU-X.
As we mentioned earlier, Isuzu unveiled an updated version of the MU-X earlier this year. However, the spy shots that have surfaced online show the older model. Which means India might initially get the pre-facelift model (pictured above).
Isuzu MU-X India – Interior Design
The resemblance to the Trailblazer and V-Cross continues as you step into the cabin of the Isuzu MU-X. The centre console features a touchscreen unit with vertical AC vents on either side. Placed below the touchscreen is a circular setup for the automatic climate control. Unlike the Trailblazer, the MU-X features a much simpler looking instrument console. The international-spec model pictured here features an all-black treatment for the cabin. For the India market, however, Isuzu could go for a black-beige colour scheme. Also, the upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer facelift features an all-new dashboard design, which will help set it apart from the Isuzu MU-X’s.

Isuzu MU-X Engine & Transmission
MU-X will replace the MU-7 in India, which is also powered by a 3.0-litre diesel. But it makes do with slightly lower power and torque figures of 161 bhp and 360 Nm respectively. There is a possibility of the MU-X getting the same engine with identical numbers. However, we expect Isuzu to equip the MU-X with a 3.0-litre motor that churns out 177 PS and 380 Nm of power and torque respectively. Buyers will get a choice of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. 4 x 4 will be offered as an option, if not standard on the Isuzu MU-X for India.
